ArtSpeak.org Workshops:
1. Photography conducted by Kimberly Bryant
2. Art & craft by K. Poon (pctured above with children)

Who/When/Where:
With the children of Stratton ABC Foundation, Saraphi (Chiang Mai)
Date: 21 July 10.30am onwards

So happy and thankful to all our ArtSpeak friends (Kim, Poon and Nicole) for volunteering to help. Many many thanks to Anthony Biddlecombe. Areerat Kaewkla, Yoga Tree and Green Papaya Sangha for your donations to top up the money from ArtSpeak.org. Now we have a total of 2700baht to buy some disposable cameras (like the Fuji one above) and hopefully have some money left for printing. If not, we will find a way somehow (maybe someone has a darkroom?). We are happy to accept donations in kind (re-usable materials fro craft making; paint; loose bits of fabric etc). Contact Li Li.

Isn’t it wonderful when a community of people (many of whom are strangers to each other) come together in some way to help others in need? Any act of kindness however small goes a long way. Smile and have a nice day!

Note: See also our FB page for regular updates.

Fun New Art Workshops For Children!

ArtSpeak.org thanks 2 volunteers who have kindly offered to conduct some very fun children workshops this July 2012 at Stratton ABC Foundation! The basic photography workshop will be conducted by Kimberly Bryant and the craft workshop by Khun Poon. ArtSpeak will donate 2000baht towards the photo workshop (for disposble cameras for the children). Anyone else? Need simple, cheap cameras for 10 children  and printing costs. Or you can donate an old camera that is sitting in your cupboard and let us recycle it. Contact me (Li Li) at 1717Li2@gmail.com. Thank you!

ArtSpeak.org volunteer, K. Poon, led a class in drawing/art therapy with both hands (to help strengthen the children’s motor skills and to help them move out of their usual comfort zone) at Stratton ABC Foundation yesterday while I painted a wooden cutting board which director, John Cope will recycle into a little coffee table (available for sale, see Stratton’s post on the beautiful tables). Thank you children for another fun and fruitful day!

Nice post from John Cope, director of The Stratton ABC Foundation below;

The papier mache work is still going on since Li Li Tan’s recent workshop. Those that most enjoyed have started new “statues”.

And then there is Tai, who has been quietly working on his Ostrich, in between his busy study schedule. Just this weekend he has begun finishing decoration and it is clear to see that Li Li’s style has been a great inspiration. He says its still not finished………so watch this space.

Oh, by the way Li Li, after speaking to Tai this weekend he has said that he would be very interested in trying out on canvas.

Thank you cards for volunteers made by the children.

Today was ArtSpeak’s last day at Kids Home Foundation Smile Holidays Project. Needless to say, it was an emotional time for us volunteers. It has been a lot of fun working with the children who attended the classes. Thank you to all who supported and helped me, especially to the wonderful volunteers who conducted many interesting art and craft sessions. I will share photos and information about some of our activities in upcoming posts next week. Or check out the albums on opur FB page – https://www.facebook.com/ArtSpeak.Org.
